London Pub

One of my ex-colleague from Australia now lives in London. Met up with her for couple of drinks today at Dean Street. I like London pubs. The buildings are old fashioned and have great ambiance.

I think I am in love with UK Parliament

Is there any other parliament building in the world more majestic and better suited to be a parliament than the UK Parliament building?

I just love this majestic building and the architecture. It looks even magnificent when lit up in the night. I just can't seem to get enough of it. Every time I go pass it, I impulsively take more photos of this building.

Spent the whole day in Westminster

The sun was shinning on London today (how many times can you say that during the London winter?).

Visited Westminster. Westminster Abbey is amazing. The architecture and the history is so rich. The abbey is so fragile, I was afraid to touch anything. So many people have gone through the place for so many years, the paths people walk along have sunk. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside the abbey. I took several photos from outside. I could've spent the whole day inside the abbey.

Then went inside the House of Parliament and sat in the public gallery and watched the House of Commons in session. Again, whole loads of photos from outside and none from inside. Of course, the subject of half of the photos is Big Ben.

Had dinner at Piccadilly Circus.

Except for it's gloomy weather, London is pretty amazing place. The architecture is breath taking and every building -even the smallest one- has a character and is different to the next one.

Looks like a set from a science fiction

Inside of the Westminster Tube Station looks it's straight out of a science fiction movie. It reminds me of Martian mining colonies in movies like Total Recall.

I didn't want to take the risk of getting arrested (or at least making other commuters nervous) by trying to take photos inside a tube station. But, you can find plenty of photos if you Google it.

A quick trip to Trafalgar Square

I am still jet lagged. But decided to go out in the evening.

Went to Trafalgar Square and walked around a bit. Had the first real experience of the London weather. I was expecting the cold, but what irritates me most is the fact it gets dark around 3 PM. It doesn't help me with the photographs.

Then walked towards Covent Garden market. Enjoyed the performance of the street artists.

I like the small spaces enclosed by the buildings. These squares are every where in Central London.

First glimpse of London

Landed in London Heathrow Airport around 3:25 GMT. We were circling the airport for about 15 minutes before landing, which I was told is normal as Heathrow is very congested.

Waiting for the connecting flight in Singapore

Landed a while ago in Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3. I have more than 3 hours for the connecting flight to London. I might get some shut-eye during this time.

As expected the new terminal (Terminal 3) is as good if not better than the other terminals. The only issue is, it doesn't seem to have "quite-areas" areas away from the cafes and noisy gates with recliners where travellers can rest and get some sleep. I couldn't find these areas in new Terminal 3

I am off to London

I am waiting to board the 12:50 AM flight to Singapore. Three hours transit in Singapore and I have to catch the flight to London. While I am excited about my first trip to London, I am not really looking forward to the long flight.

I should have done the internet check-in and selected the seats my self, but I completely forgot. SeatGuru is a great website to find out what are the best seats in different airlines. Hope I get a good seat and good neighbours(s).
